BLACKSMITHS SHOP
Here is a forge with examples of bellows, round
and pear shaped.
The Blacksmith's part in the daily round of
rural life was vital, not only was the blacksmith a
farrier but made tools and equipment for farms and
households.
Around the walls and on the floor are relics of
the Blacksmith's craft, tongs, swags and fullers
for shaping, cutters and rasps, also an anvil,
farrier's anvil and toolbox.
Several castings from local Pickering foundries,
now extinct, are lying in the corner as if awaiting
repair.
