Pickering Home Defence Corps, July
1915. The forerunners of the Home Guard
are seen marching over the railway
crossing in Bridge Street. On the left is
the signal box and behind is the
Temperance Hall (now Beckside Crafts). The
band marching in front would be either
Skaife's Band or Smith's Band, as the town
had two active bands at the time.
