PHOTO GALLERY - Transport

The railway crossing at Mill Lane on 21 January 1953. The goods train has stopped to allow signalman Jack Pape to hand over the token. The Scarborough line closed for passengers in 1965 but remained open for freight, to move limestone from Thornton Dale Quarry, until 1966. The line and signal box have since been removed.
