This wrinkled old photograph, glued
onto canvas, is unique as it shows
Pickering Police Station, courthouse and
cells at the bottom of Kirkham Lane. Also
pictured is the butchers shop which later
became kitty Burrells cafe. All these
buildings, along with Wilf McNeils house
and the blacksmiths shop, were demolished
to widen the road and improve access to
RAF Fylingdales early warning station
during its construction in the early
1960's.
